The future of heritage breed pigs is reliant upon farmers who can afford to raise them. I am a full-time partner in a
CPA firm (see bio at bbdcpa.com) and JoAnn is a high school science teacher. We do the work and we spend a considerable amount of time developing this great endangered animal.
However, you can help. By buying heritage breed pork, you can help preserve them. Simply by creating a demand for their meat, these wonderful animals may be saved for future generations. We provide an alternative to the mass-produced, hormone injected, confined housing unnatural pig production.
Our goal is to produce the most healthy, flavorful pigs for restaurants and families. Our pigs take longer to reach market weight, but the wait is worth the effort.
We produce the healthiest animals and best food without our use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, hormones or antibiotics. We use diatomaceous earth instead of chemical wormers.
They graze on pasture for 8-9 months of the year using rotational grazing techniques. They spend 3- months in a large hog shacks with access to our pastures and woods and are fed hay and transitional organic grain.
Our breeding stock sows are Six and Seven. Link is our sire. They are so gentle and enjoy back and belly scratches so much so they can become catatonic and simple fall over!
