We have been quite busy on the farm -new underground heated hog waters, new fencing and a succesfull forage season.
This spring we planted 4 acres of forages mixed. We divided the fiels into 1/2 lots and used temporary fencing to rotate the hogs every week. The temp fencing worked really, except for the piglets that just ran under them and about!! Drarft essex rape, clover sorgum, millet and hairy vetch. The hogs were grazing until the middle of November
It worked just great as our feed costs dropped well below our seed costs for the plantings.
Ross at the Rodale Institute has been great in providing support as we approached our forage season. We did pick up an Old Spot from them to add her into the mix - -"Pinky"
